SINGAPORE - A giant promotional display in the shape of an over sized liquor bottle for the pomegranate vodka FOU-DRÉ disengaged from its base support at 6:30 this morning as workers were attempting to secure it in place. According to one eyewitness Mr Bob, a builder from England on holiday in Singapore said he heard a group of men shouting loudly and turned to see the enormous purple bottle crash to the ground, spilling its contents outside One Raffles Place.
"It happened in slow motion. This massive bottle appeared to be tilting heavily. There were all these blokes shouting and yelling at the base, but it was clear they couldn't do much." Said Bob. Another witness Mr. Charles Ng described the impact. "I heard a loud thud and saw that the cork of the massive display had dislodged and its liquid content was spilling all over the park. It smelled quite nice actually - like fruit"
The contracting company preparing the promotional display - Big Hat Consulting - was unavailable for comment this morning however a spokesman for Delta Juliet Group Pte Ltd, the company which imports FOU-DRÉ, Mr. Rob D Junior said his company was extremely distressed by the event but was thankful that no one was injured. The display was removed before the peak rush hour. A group of cleaners were seen mopping up an estimated 200 liters of pomegranate vodka from the ground around the MRT.
Earlier this year In August a crane boom collapsed at a construction site in Raffles Quay while it was being operated. No people were injured.
